Monrovia – Liberia’s Ambassador-at-Large for Youth and Sports Development, Alioune Kebe has donated L$500,000 to the senior male national football team, the Lone Star, as an initial contribution towards the team’s preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ambassador Kébé presented the donation during a brief ceremony at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, reaffirming his commitment to supporting the national team in any way possible to help elevate Liberia’s presence on the global football stage.

The Ambassador noted that during a recent visit to the Ministry, he held discussions with officials and observed the urgent need to support the senior national team as it resumes its preparation activities. “Our national team needs all the support it can get as it embarks on this important journey. I want to encourage all Liberians and supporters to remain committed to uplifting Liberian football,” he said.

Receiving the donation, Youth and Sports Minister Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu lauded Ambassador Kébé for his generous contribution and called on the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and other stakeholders to recognize the importance of supporting the team.

Minister Bangalu subsequently handed over the donation to Mr. Emmett Crayton, Secretary General of the LFA, on behalf of the association.

Speaking on behalf of LFA President Mustapha Raji, Mr. Crayton expressed gratitude to Ambassador Kébé and appealed for additional assistance—this time for the national Under-20 team, which is scheduled to travel to Ghana in two weeks for an international assignment. He also commended the Ambassador for his interest in Liberian football, including his presence at recent matches involving the senior women’s national team.

Minister Bangalu used the occasion to urge the LFA to actively engage its partners, including sports betting companies and other potential sponsors, to mobilize further support for both the senior and youth national teams.
